As I have not seen reproduced in any blog, as I do. For those who do not know that this is going, that there sapa computer you want to call a strike .
Hi everyone,
The purpose of this email is to clarify some confusing information that have circulated these days and are related to the new titles of Computer Engineering. I would like to first clarify that never since the beginning of the Bologna process, has cast doubt on the existence a Bachelor degree in Computer Science. You all know about the work undertaken within the framework of the Conference of Deans and Directors of Information Technology (CODDI), drafting a White Paper which proposes the structure of a Bachelor degree in Computer Engineering and has been a reference to the adoption of new titles in 2008.
is true, however, that over the past 6 years have been major changes of direction in the Ministry's policy to end in the current situation in which there is a catalog of titles, but each university can propose as deemed necessary. Therefore, in the case of regulated professions (ie engineering) has been to enable a mechanism to check whether the new titles can train for the performance of existing regulated professions. This is done using index cards, drafts of which have already been made, indicating what students should acquire skills for the completion of studies to exercise the profession (regulated, insist).
What is the situation of Computer Engineering?
Not since its inception, there have been professional responsibilities associated with information technology. For several years we are trying from the CODDI and Computing College achieve regulation of the profession as well as other engineering. Because the only mechanism of cohesion, from the academic perspective, that exists for other engineering skills are reflected in their chips, also ask (and we did a draft that we submitted to the Ministry) there is a chip in Computer Engineering, although not representing the skills needed for a regulated profession, it does provide a framework that represents a uniformity with the various qualifications that are implanted in English universities.
Moreover, as another disturbance added the process, as the profession itself is regulated, Technical Engineering degree in Telecommunications has a corresponding form in which its powers clearly overlap with some of the inherent powers of Computer Engineering. The main problem is that if there is a token of Computer Science can not clearly identify which aspects should be treated in one or another degree. In this situation, the argument presented CODDI and a first tab that had been prepared before the summer. Some of these arguments were taken into account for this last draft, but there are still several areas where we disagree and before we make further allegations.
In summary, not think I should say that will disappear Engineering. What we have now are two fronts: to achieve the professional activity (which is nothing new that is related to the Bologna process) and get it to generate some files but no such powers. To achieve these objectives we are trying to negotiate with the different branches of the Ministry of Education and Industry.
In any case, given the alarm that has been created, and perhaps the lack of information in some areas, we will convene a briefing and discussion next week
